New Zealand International Comedy Festival

Every May, the capital comes alive with laughter, thanks to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival (NZICF). New Zealand’s homegrown talent shares the stage with some of the world’s most exciting comedians. You could catch a big-name international artist, or discover a new local rising star. 

Since it began in 1993, the aim of the festival has been to champion the craft of comedy so everyone can share a laugh. Every year, a huge group of comedians descend on Wellington from local shores and beyond to deliver three weeks of merriment. 

The festival offers a diverse range of high-quality laughs. It showcases the best of local comedy and gives audiences a taste of some of the world’s best acts. Catch over 100 comics performing at The Opera House, BATS Theatre, Fringe Bar, San Fran, and more.
